【綜合報導】新任日本駐聯合國代表吉川元偉13日在紐約的日本駐聯合國代表部召開記者會，稱希望能在2015年的聯合國安理會非常任理事國改選中當選，成為安理會成員。

日本為爭取被選為2016～2017年的非常任理事國，決定新設一個專職大使的職位，以遊說各國支持日本。日本屆時若能入選非常任理事國，將是其第11次當選，日本也將成為歷史上出任非常任理事國次數最多的國家。
