美國瘧疾病例 創40年來新高

根據美國疾病管制中心統計，2011年時全美共有1925人感染瘧疾，是繼1971年以來的新高。幾乎所有的瘧疾病例都在美國境外感染，其中63%來自西非，另外將近17%則來自印度。

疾病管制中心主任湯姆佛萊登指出，美國本土瘧疾早已絕跡，因此多數美國人對瘧疾幾無抵抗力，在前往西非、南亞等地旅遊時，必須特別注意感染。「這些境外感染都是可以預防的。」疾管中心寄生蟲疾病部門主管羅倫斯史勒茲柯爾表示，「包括防蚊噴劑、蚊帳及預防性的抗瘧疾藥物，其實就足以抵抗瘧蚊肆虐。」
