在被洛杉磯湖人以特赦條款釋出的一天後，Metta World Peace說他不想要任何NBA球隊邀他去打球，不是他的家鄉球隊紐約尼克或布魯克林籃網，也不是與湖人共用Staples Center為主場的洛杉磯快艇。

World Peace在美國時間周五表示：「我真的不想為任何人效力，現在我哪都不想去，只想去中國或打美式足球。」

World Peace說他已經告知在休士頓火箭的前隊友姚明，討論加盟上海大鯊魚隊的可能性，同時他也談到有其他許多CBA球隊主動聯繫。

World Peace近日剛結束在北京和青島的旅程，這進一步強化他想在中國打球的想法。

根據《ESPN》報導，會將在中國打球這個選項納入考量，是因為他已經和Stephon Marbury、Steve Francis及Gilbert Arenas談過這方面的問題，他們都是以前NBA球員的身分來到中國，並做為闖蕩CBA的開路先鋒。

Metta World Peace談到：「我相當自得其樂，我只做有趣的事情。告訴你，如果有機會馳騁於美式足球場上，我肯定會去，你們將會看到我在那裡出現，而且你也會開始撰寫相關報導」。
