研究：智力退化 從視覺開始

隨年齡增長，記憶、思考等智力表現也會逐漸衰退。

英國愛丁堡大學團隊發表於《當代生物學》期刊的研究指出，當年長者無法立刻分辨眼前「一閃而過」的物體、數字或文字時，可能是智力開始退化的徵兆，不僅分辨影像的時間延長，也將逐漸無法處理較複雜的工作。

研究人員連續6年追蹤600餘位70歲以上年長者的視覺及智力變化，結果發現視覺辨識速度愈慢、出錯率愈高者，智力成績愈差。

愛丁堡大學心理學研究員史都華里奇解釋，視覺與「快速判斷」的能力有關，若年長者能在「一瞥之間」迅速整合眼中所見的景象或物體，代表大腦思考、判斷的能力「維持得不錯」。

里奇認為，未來可能不需要複雜的智力測驗，改採較簡易的視覺測試，就能評估年長者智力退化、兒童智能發展，或失智症惡化的程度。
