4G將在今年底前完成釋照作業，外界質疑時程太慢，國家通訊傳播委員會（NCC）主委石世豪表示，4G到今年才陸續有技術成熟和價格合理的設備問世，配合行動通訊設備的應用發展；「未必早就好，未必晚就差」。

石世豪接受NOWnews.com《今日新聞》專訪時指出，我國現有2G及3G行動通信服務範圍，涵蓋率已超過90％，依據世界經濟論壇（WEF）今年4月最新公布「全球資訊科技報告2013」，我國行動電話覆蓋率與先進國家並列為全球第一。

石世豪表示，目前4G應用較多是北美和日、韓，歐洲主要國家在去年發照，建設才剛開展，澳洲今年中釋照，我國相較於其他國家，釋照時程差不多。

石世豪說，此次釋照主要考量服務市場發展，雖然其他歐美先進國家已先行完成4G釋照，並進行商轉，由於我國電信業者網路設備多向國外大廠採購進口，過早釋照除可能購買實驗性商品，也可能將較高的設備成本轉嫁消費者；隨著新世代技術標準及終端設備手機等逐漸成熟，我國與國際趨勢潮流俱進，積極辦理釋照作業，期使國人享有物美價廉之行動寬頻服務。

至於民眾何時能享有4G服務，石世豪表示，如果現有3G業者得標，以既有的設備升級，開台的時間應該會很快。 (接下一頁)
