即使FIFA（國際足總）已經提出警告，墨西哥球迷依舊沒在怕，場邊加油時仍用帶有歧視侮辱的字眼挑釁敵隊球員。

墨西哥與巴西一戰，巴西跟墨西哥有球迷用上了〝Puto 〞一詞，西班牙語意思為男妓，以及貶低同性戀的口氣，葡萄牙語有淫亂、放縱的意思，遭到有關單位投訴。

後來墨西哥跟巴西都被FIFA口頭警告，FIFA也正調查墨西哥球迷的不當行為，並表示對此種人身攻擊的詞彙採零容忍態度。

不過在墨西哥與克羅埃西亞的比賽中，還是出現了不堪入耳的詞彙，同樣來自墨西哥的觀眾席。
